In the coming months i will be showing off our Valois French miniatures, with the first of those updates coming today with a couple of packs of French Gendarmes.

    Early Landsknechts

    Landsknechts for the period 1490 - 1518 (ish). In this very early period Landsknechts served almost exclusively in the armies of the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I, who raised them as mercenary bands in the late 15th Century. These minis will be suitable for Maximilian Imperial armies until his death in 1518, and are also suitable for others mercenaries in the pay of France, Florence, or the Papacy in the early 16th Century.  Read the full story...

    Valois Legion Arquebusiers

    Right-o then, the second part of our French infantry for a generation in the middle of the 16th Century, roughly 1535 - 1570, are four packs of Legion Arquebusiers. Francis I's reorganization of his infantry in the middle of the 1530's formed units or Arquebusiers as well as accompanying pikemen, but these seem not to have been organized into combined units.
